@MassControlKern and @TheGazzMan In Nudist Beach Fiasco

By Stephen On February 16, 2009 Under Internet Marketing

Over the past few days I’ve been so impressed by Frank Kern’s Mass Control teasers that they went to my head. Hell, I thought, if Kern can make money by driving his car down the street and showing us a garage full of surf boards it must be worth a shot.

On the way to our exlusive destination, however, somehow Gary Simpson’s name came into the narrative, and so he’s also come to feature in this clip.

You may know that Frank Kern is releasing Mass Control 2 today. It looks like a great, if high endish, product.

Certainly I’ve had a blast playing with all the free videos and stuff he’s shared in the lead up to the release. But I wonder what Gary Simpson would make of it?

Good job Garry on making it clear who won. I think Gary Simpson should have his SEO partner write some good articles about how he was able to get his results or what exactly we should be doing to better position ourselves in Google.

Well, Christmas 2008 is over and we are heading inexorably into 2009. I hope you had a FANtastic time. I certainly did. I have been doing a few “catch-ups” on sites that I have really wanted to visit.

Hi Stephen,

God you are a lark! I NEVER know what to expect from you with those headlines that you write. Quite often I hold my breath on the way over - LOL!

OK, a few of things:

1 - Loved the scenery. I have never been to Turkey.

2 - VERY funny commentry - esp the bit about the dead guy (unfortunately, I thought that was funny) and the animals and the car you almost ran into - all funny stuff.

3 - My little upside down mention thing was nice and I thank you for that. Sometimes I DEFO feel like that with all the bloody things I am trying to do. LOL!

4 - I was mystified by the continual shots of the junk in the car and the umbrella on the backseat. WTF was that all about?

5 - Voice over is good and well done. Nice and clear and easy to understand and follow

6 - Info for business was good.

Now to what I didn’t like:

1 - that effen music. It was SO bloody annoying and I thought it REALLY detracted from your presentation. Why did you do that? I detested it - sorry!

2 - the video was a lot of fun but I think it needs to be all over and done in under 5 minutes as people just won’t watch stuff that is much longer. I know that when I go to watch a video, the very FIRST thing I do is look at that little number that displays how long it is.

If it is 2 minutes I will always watch. If it is 3 to 5 minutes I will usually watch. If it is 5 to 10 minutes I will watch it if it is from a friend like you OR if it is instructionally very good or if it is funny.

After 10 minutes I really struggle to watch anything and I will click away the second it starts to bore me. I gotta say Stephen, and this is NO disrespect to you but I was really wanting to click away after about 15 seconds of that God-awful music. It just GRATED on me BIG time. But I stuck with it (begrudgingly) because of my respect for what you do. Don’t expect others to do the same coz they won’t! They will just think “eff this sh*t” and leave. It was like a bloody cult mantra chant. I can’t tell you how distracting it was. Actually, I can. It was EFFEN distracting to the point of extreme irritation above all else.

OK. That is a smorGAZZboard of feedback for you. Hope you are OK with it but I tell people straight so that they know where I stand. That is just being honest. (ie I don’t p155 in people’s pockets - I say stuff so that they can improve what they do and become BETTER!) Having said all that maybe some people LIKE the chanting but, well you know what I think…

Thanks for the opportunity to say nice things and “other” things - LOL! Hope that is what you wanted. Coz that is how I saw it.

Regards

Gary Simpson

Gary,

Thanks for your detailed analysis. You know making this video made me realise just how much easier it might be to write an e-book.

I’ve been coping with power-cuts, ADSL failures, as well as attempting to integrating several types of video and audio.

Frankly at the end of Monday I would have been delighted to re-do it on the basis of quality, but was totally p***d off because due to the problems above I had already edited the effin’ thing four times!

It is too long, and the Gospel Music isn’t inspired. Sound is a problem for movies. Some sound IS needed because otherwise the videos come over as a school classroom from the 1960’s, which come to think of it was when I went to school.

Copyright free music however is harder to obtain and the ‘chanting’ was the best that I had available.

If you’ve seen any of Kern’s promo movies you’ll note he always inserts a little chaos like some down-market detail, it makes the whole thing more believable. I suspect though he has a small film crew working around him because his videos are every well produced.

What I really appreciate about your comment is that you took the trouble to write at length what you saw, and heard and how it affected you. That’s gold-dust, and something I try to do with A.J.

In time I will revamp everything out there including this clip, for the moment though there’s heaps to do elsewhere.

God Bless,

Stephen
