Tunnel Vision ~ More On Taking This Blog Down
Yesterday I wrote about why I’m taking this blog down. The fact is I’m going in a different direction from Internet marketing. That said my new focus will require marketing and lots that I learned from Rich Schefren, Alex Jeffreys, Alex Goad, Mark Dulisse and others too numerous to mention, will come into play.
For example Jason Potash today alerted me to his latest blog post about tunnel vision.
Essentially is saying rather than diversify and attempt to be like Wallmart find a niche that works and sell the hell out of it. The example he gives is of a guy who just sells spiral bound maps.
I intend to focus on photography . . . but not just any photography.

Why I’ve decided to remove this blog!
Last year I took part in Alex Jeffreys’ Coaching Program for Internet Marketets. I also signed up for Rich Schefren’s GPS2 system, subscribed to Google Conquest and purchased Mass Control 2.
I bought lots of other stuff too!
And I had some successes in the Internet marketing field, made a lot of new friends and, overall, found the experience enjoyable.
However my passion is in photography, rather than marketing on-line, and so this is where I’ve decided to focus next year.
For this reason this domain is about to change its focus so this blog will shortly be removed.
I would like to thank all who have visited here over the past year and whatever your endeavours I wish you well.

The Newbies Nightmare
Alex Jeffreys: The Newbies Nightmare!
Have you ever wondered why it is that 95%
of marketers fail on-line?
Perhaps you even think that you’re failing
to succeed when you deserve to be making
money?
Well you’re not alone, and you’re probably
right.
You see every day thousands of people
are attempting to make a ‘crust’ on-line
only to be disappointed at all the time,
effort and money they are spending to get
nowhere.
Alex Jeffreys call this ‘The Newbies
Nightmare’ and it’s the subject of a
complimentary report that he released
on June 21st.
In it Alex spells out may of the reasons
people fail to make it on-line.
As Alex says in ‘The Newbies Nightmare’
making money on-line is ’simple but it’s
not easy’.
Alex certainly knows about making money
on-line. Here’s a screenshot of his

But Alex also knows how to treat people
right. Citing a page of testimonials
from ‘happy students’ Alex certainly seems
to be the answer to ‘Newbie’ marketer’s
dreams.
Alex explains that he thought that he
had ‘fixed’ the problems that new Internet
marketers experience in his previous book
‘The Gurus’ Dream’.
But he admits that ‘The Gurus’ Dream’
didn’t go far enough.
Indeed he says that ‘The Gurus’ Dream’
rapidly became ‘The Newbies’ Nightmare’.
How?
Alex explains all.
One of Alex secrets is that although
he likes people paying him money he never
sets out to take it.
His second secret is that he knows that
to be successful you either need time,
or money.
If you know how to organise others then
you may trade money for your time, but
if you’re just setting out then you most
likely need to use your time efficiently.
This means planning, and follow through.
By far the most important thing you
can do is focus on what’s profitable,
rather than on jumping from one new idea
to another.
The third secret is knowing your income
destination. In fact all goals and
aspirations are destinations, but since
Alex is into business he writes mainly
about income targets.
Once you know your target you can then
plan how you’re going to get yourself
there.
No destination, no route, no plan, no
success. Simple really innit??
The Fourth Secret is Implementation.
When Alex buys a product he applies
what it teaches. Indeed Alex is known
for purchasing ‘high end’ products so
that’s a pretty good incentive to use
them.
Although there’s tons of valid
information in free courses and e-books
all that most people do is vicariously
enjoy the authors’ successes without
taking huge action.
This is a mistake.
Of course you can take action and still
fail.
This can be due to information overload,
or simply that the product is incomplete.
The fact is though that marketing and
business are largely about problem
solving and so when you’re interested
in one way of making money, for example
using CPA, then it’s best to keep
researching and practicing, until you’ve
cracked the code.
As Alex reveals, once you start to make
money all the things you thought you
needed to know personally are outsourced
to ‘experts’. All you need to know is
enough to keep all your staff on the
same page.
The Fifth Secret is very simple. When you
give of yourself freely a buying
opportunity will open up.
Alex is fond of quoting his mentor ‘Rich
Schefren’ of ‘Strategic Profits’ who says:
‘Marketing makes selling superfluous’.
Alex says: "Giving is better than
receiving because giving opens up the
receiving process’.
There’s nothing metaphysical about
Alex’s assertion. He is just demonstrating
the old adage that people buy from people
with whom they’re in a relationship.
The relationship comes first.

Alex Jeffreys Coaching
It’s about three months since Alex Jeffreys’ Coaching Program ended, and so I thought I would take a moment to evaluate the legacy that it’s left me.
Alex is a dominant type A personality, (which means he’s a high achiever), highly focussed. He enjoys both privacy in his family life, and also being a showman for his students and followers.
This is both good, and also not so good. Once you realise that Alex’s concern is for you to succeed on line, rather than be exactly like him, it becomes all good.
Each of us is different and the lifestyles of a teenager, a thirty something, and a retired professional are different ~ all have different aspirations.
Internet marketers usually portray themselves as one of three types of character.
a) Those like Rich Schefren, Jay Abraham, Yanik Silver and Andrew Fox who project a ‘film star’ like image. They seem to lead extraordinary lives, drive the most prestigious brands of car, own yachts, horses, castles etc.
b) The Frank Kerns and Michael Cheneys of the field, who come over as ‘regular’ folk who lead everyone elses’ lifestyle, but with more comfort, freedom, and especially the freedom to be relaxed and at ease with themselves.
c) Under the radar marketers such as Chris McNeeny, Alex Goad, and Saj P who seem to know every black and grey hat trick imaginable yet profit from eschewing them in favour of a cannie business sense, and effective research and SEO.
The fact is, however, that when you study success you find that all teach pretty much the same stuff, regardless of the persona from which they impart their teaching.
Alex is very competent as projecting himself. He’s on his way to becoming in the first category above, but that doesn’t mean you have to fall into that category to profit from the knowledge he shares in his Coaching Program.
I think he did a superb job of providing a group of people of mixed knowledge and ability the fundamentals of running an on-line business. That’s no mean achievement.

Alex Jeffreys Student Blogs Revisited: Is Your Problem That You’re Unlike Alex?
Yesterday I spent some time visiting the bogs of those who have commented here in the past. With a few exceptions most of these are still alive, although some haven’t been updated recently.
Many of those who comment here are people who took part in Alex Jeffreys’ first Coaching Program, which ended in January.
Of those students a few are highly successful, but many are not.
Before you think this is going to be another one of those blogs exhorting people to take action, or suggesting that failure on-line is somehow your fault be reassured it isn’t.
You see I think I may have discovered the reason why some are succeeding whilst most continue to fail even after Alex’s coaching.
The reason emerged as I looked at the various blog styles, the posts made, and the comments offered.
You see Alex is a highly charismatic character. He likes to live life in the fast lane. He works hard, plays hard, and puts himself forward.
Do you remember how he sent out that video letting us know that he had been nominated for a Shorty Business Award on Twitter? Pure showmanship!
The fact is though that not all of us are showmen, or show women. But that doesn’t mean we’re failures.
Lets look at this in more detail.
Rich Schefren and Jay Abraham in the Maven Matrix Manifesto clearly outline the benefits of showmanship. So do Dr. Joe Vitalie, Jonathan Gunson, Maria Andros and may others.
Quite simply when you’re perceived to be the expert in your field you don’t need to search for joint ventures, products to promote, adwords, pay per click, off-line advertising, or any of the things that are the bread and butter of most Internet promotion. The reason is that people will beat a path to your door. Indeed you will have to turn most J.V. offers away.
But being on show comes at a price. Not everyone wants to live in the limelight, to be under public scrutiny, to have to endure comments made about the veracity of their claims. Indeed not everyone wants to be a star.
If you don’t want to be a star that’s OK and you can still be successful on-line. But you need a different kind of training!
You see you can never become a star even if you model what the successful Internet marketing stars do unless you know deep down, at your core, which is a feeling just under your diaphragm below your stomach, that you’re really a star who has always been waiting to happen.
If you don’t have that conviction, them really you need to follow a different path to success.
Here are some other tests to determine if you’re a star, or what I like to term a ‘back-room executive’.
Would you prefer to drive a Ferrari, or a family saloon? Do you want to change your life, or lead the same life in better surroundings without financial worries? Is your wristwatch about showing you status, or telling the time? Are you looking for life in the fast lane, or a better education for your kids?
If you want the Ferrari, the new lifestyle, the Audmars Piguet wristwatch, the tux in the casino, then most likely you’re a star in the making. You know what you need to do ~ get your teeth fixed and then make videos; create a professional polished web site; develop your own products to giveaway; give interviews; endorse other peoples’ products; write books; give away free reports; cosset other stars; and hire Glenn Dietzel :~)
But if you’re interested in your family, your wristwatch is used to tell the time, you like your life but would enjoy a larger house without financial worries, and you would like your kids to get a good education without having to leave home then probably you’re a back room executive.
These aren’t trivial distinctions. Take the wrong training and you will fail.
Can you imagine a star spending their days supervising the development of a host of niche web sites? Do stars look forward to spending even half an hour doing keyword research to find hot niches that will make them money on auto-pilot if they do it right?
Of course not. They’re researching diamonds, and Porches, purchasing yachts, and writing stories about teachers who thought them failures because they didn’t apply themselves to lessons or care about the environment.
But the back room executive loves the chase, and meat of marketing on-line. Tracking down a bevy of long-tail keywords, setting up a set of valves and funnels to make money on auto-pilot excites them beyond measure. Indeed they even get satisfaction from knowing that they might buy the entire street yet their neighbours think of them as modest people possessed of community values.
If deep down you’re a back room executive you need to know the intricacies, tips, tricks, turns, white hat, grey hat, black hat, secrets of the Internet that enable reclusive people to make thousands on-line.
Personally I don’t believe that grey, or black hat techniques are necesary for on-line success, but as an Internet marketing professional you should know every twist and turn of earning money on-line.

SH*t, I’ve Turned Into @Alex_Jeffreys !!!
Do you remember Alex. He’s the welsh superman who keeps anyone from the old world up all night on marathon telethons, (webinars actually but telethon seemed to fit better with marathon).
So what’s that got to do with yours truly?
Quite simply Peeps before I joined Alex’s program I was the average sort of English guy. I enjoyed a glass of beer on hot days, and a glass of claret with my roast beef. I would retire at around 11.00 p.m. make passionate love to the Mrs for about 50 minutes and fall into a coma.
Well a deep sleep until about four a.m. when I would wake up feeling aroused, make love with the wife again for an hour, or so. Take a catnap, followed by a shower, and be raring to go by about half past eight.
That’s all changed!
Last night I didn’t even get to bed because I was up all night preparing a private area on my server for some of my friends from the Fortunate 500.
Yes folks these are the very same people who took the trouble to comment on my previous post about what I should be doing with this blog, and they’re going to get something really special ~ The opportunity to watch over my shoulder as I manage my homework from a $1000 training program aimed at turning me from Micro Muscle to Mighty Mouse, if that analogy works for Internet marketing?
Anyway around four a.m. while some video was being uploaded I fancied a cup of tea, I had finished the Raki at around midnight and low an behold I heard the sound of music coming from the bedroom.
My Chick-a Dee was still up watching ‘Dirty Dancing’ Havana Nights, or some such Rumba?
Some time later when I emerged I discovered that in my absence Microsoft had not only updated my software, they had also disconnected me from the video upload as they did so. You see the computer had done an auto-reboot.
Now what’s the point of this story, and what has it to do with you?
Quite simply if you wannna be a stay at home couch potato that’s fine. An’ if you wanner pretend your an on-line gazzilionaire in the making because you’ve listened to some webinars that’s O.K. too.
But the fact is that you’ll never make it on, or off-line unless like Alex, and moi, you can miss several nights sleep in a row, and are prepared to persevere until the impossible has been overcome.
It helps if you have a strong sex drive too.

Alex Jeffreys, Glenn Dietzel, Last Night’s Call
Alex Jeffreys and Glenn Dietzel have taken many of us by surprise. Judging be the ‘lack’ of responses that I received to my inquiries about what others thought either at F500 or via Twitter my guess is that many were too busy, or exhausted, to tune into the call.
Glenn and Alex are an unlikely duo comprised of an ex Deputy Headteacher, and the kid who might have spent his school career waiting outside the Head’s door!
Yet both are incredibly successful at business generation.
I have no idea how Alex pulled off his amazing J.V. with Glenn. There are rumours that it might even have been brokered by Rich Schefren, others claim the connection goes all the way up to Jay Abraham?
Whatever the truth of these rumours the call had the hallmark of Schefren’s Rolling Launch Formula. Essentially this involves approaching J.V. partners and then creating launches dedicated to each J.V. partner’s list.
So my question is has Alex now decided to extend his program by partnering with Glenn, or is this really Glenn’s program for which Alex is an affiliate?
The call itself was fascinating, but quite unlike anything we’ve heard from Alex.
Information or Recommendation?
Glenn Dietzel claims that we’re no longer living in the ‘Information Age’. Instead we’re in the ‘Recommendation Age’. He went on to provide two laws of marketing in the ‘Recommendation Age’.
Milgram’s Law is named after a famous psychological experiment conducted at Harvard over half a century ago. Students were asked to administer electrical shocks to fellow experimenters in a controlled environment. Many did so because they accepted the authority of the college professors, especially when they were wearing white coats.
In today’s milieu this means that if you’re perceived to be wearing the white coat you can persuade 80% of people to follow you to hell and back.
The Origin of Zipf’s Law is also Harvard. It is a law of probability that can be applied to many social phenomena and indicates, for example, just how likely a word is likely to be used, where different populations may be found around cities, as well as having ramifications for the distribution of wealth.
Joel Comm has created a flowchart about ‘The Idea Virus’ and Zipf’s Law. Joe learned about Zipf’s Law from Glenn Dietzel.
Dietzel says that in terms of Milgram’s Law the market must perceive you as an expert, and in respect to Zipf’s Law you must choose company perceived to be at the top.
Joel Comm rewrites the original laws thus:
Milgram’s Law: People will blindly believe the words of an expert.
Zipf’s Law: People will choose the industry leader every time
The recommendation age is all about perception!
Before you can apply either of these laws to yourself Dietzel asserts that you must market to yourself first, by identifying the story you tell yourself that causes the pain that makes you fail, and then be assisted to create a new story.
Writing is seen as the key to remedying difficulties and recoding and reintegrating your thoughts. I agree with this apprach, and discussed it here.
It happens that I understand fully where he’s coming from. The concepts of relanguaging, and relearning he referred to have been the common parlance of ‘Family Therapists’ for the past forty, or so years and I teach them via ‘The Family Business School‘.
He also talks about creating an exit strategy for your business. Do you wish to, for example, Sell your business; float your business on the stock exchange; or pass it to the next generation? These are serious questions, which I address in some detail here.
In order to grow a business using Dietzel’s model you must always think strategically. The process involves finding a way to solve a problem; turning your idea into a recommendation; and building a system to deliver your most high end product.
Rather than concentrating on producing lots of free stuff as someone, who perceives themselves and is perceived, at the top of the game you should make creating a high-end product your priority.
You then market that product by a the most effective means you can devise.
How To Differentiate Yourself From Competition
This marketing includes differentiating yourself from competition by explaining what problems your product solves, which your competitors fail to address. The aim of this is to put you in a unique category within your market niche.
One way of qualifying yourself thus is to provide your prospects with a list of questions that they should ask their competitors whilst they are making their due diligence.
Some of the call was devoted to discussing Glenn Dietzel’s software. This went a little over my head, and frankly unless you install the software and see it in action I figure it will go over most everyone else’s too. Maybe that was a ploy to get us to install it?
There is much to be commended about Glenn Dietzel’s ideas. He demonstrated some of his precepts by providing social proof of his methods by citing the Jay Abraham Organization, and Joel Comm as clients, but then going on to bring two current clients to the microphone. These women were less prominent personalities and it was possible to more readily relate to them.
One question remained in my mind. Was Dietzel able to convince listeners that his brand of coaching really dovetail’s with Alex Jeffreys’ coaching from the benches style and can produce for them the kinds of changes they desire in their lives? If Alex is the coach, for some Glenn must have come over more like the Chairman of the Club!
The Milgram Experiment Today?
Students commonly assume that, even if Milgram’s famous experiment sheds important light on the power of situation today, were his experiment precisely reproduced today, it would not generate comparable results.

Alex Jeffreys’ Student Blogroll Restored, Somewhat!
Do you remember a few weeks ago how all Students of Alex were frantically zooming around each others’ blogs posting comments and hoping to be included in each other’s blogrolls. I do.
And it was quite taxing work, wasn’t it?
Things have settled down a little now. Some students have fallen by the wayside, others seem to be doing their own thing. And like the pubs around a village green some websites have become ‘the’ places to gather, which is of course great for their owners.
Everyone is frantically twittering to each other at present. There are a couple of people attempting to sell to their fellow students. Most of the videos have been submitted to the competition
Some are looking forward to learning that Alex has returned from his Bahamas trip and is ready to issue more encouragement and guidance.
A couple of days ago I wrote of how I decided to remove the list of students who had contributed here from my student blogroll.
Today I restored the list of people who were included on my blogroll as a separate page. It only seems fair since they did trouble to post here, and I was one of those insisting just a few weeks back that I would only add to my blogroll those who had created blogrolls on their web sites.
The official guidance from Alex was that by installing a no-follow links plug-in Google wouldn’t penalise anyone with a blogroll. That’s all well and good but that same method also means that any link will become ‘no-follow’ so if you’ve linked to a highly ranked web site then Google isn’t going to give you any credit for it when they come to rank you!
My solution is twofold:
I am continuing to run a live RSS feed from Google Blogsearch to maintain an in-time list of the latest posting from, or about Alex Jeffreys, and now I have made a page on the site that lists all the students who have helped me by commenting here ~ but the links to their websites aren’t clickable.
I feel better now

Alex Jeffreys Student Blogroll, How I Create An Updated List Of Active Alex Jeffreys Student Blogs On This Website.
The other day I was ‘bounced’ by Blip T.V. It occurred quickly and although Blip sent a very friendly e-mail explaining why my channel was dropped and stating that if I thought I was being wrongly treated they ‘would try to work things out’, this clearly had been written by someone different from the department that deals with appeals.
The video in question was the same as the one featured below. In it I explain how Kotobot won the $1000 prize offered by Alex Jeffreys to the student acquiring most traffic. I also reviewed a free resource called ‘Real Link Finder’, which Thomas Northrop more recently wrote about it for Garry Parkes Profit Pulling Platform.
It was this software program that led to me being removed from Blip T.V. They thought I was attempting to ’sell’ a product, rather than recommend what I still believe to be a valuable resource.
The incident got me thinking however, what if Google took a dislike to the Alex Jeffreys’ Student Blogroll, they could penalize me horribly, indeed the site might not recover for months, if ever?
My first remedy was to go to Dave Dunn’s website and use the Yahoo Pipe he set up. In the post about how he set up the Pipe Dave says that it took about a day of ‘Grunt Work’ to get the job done. This is simply parsed in my WordPress RSS Feed Reader, something you can set up in the ‘Widgets’ Page in the ‘Appearance’ tab of WordPress 2.7, (and labeled Design in earlier versions of WordPress).
Yesterday the Pipe was down, and today still hasn’t recovered so I am using a different method to keep up to date with all the latest student blog posts, and I am letting Google help me
I’ve gone over to http://blogsearch.google.com and run a search for the phrase: ‘Alex Jeffreys Student Blog’. This is a broad match search phrase, (i.e. without any quotation marks). Google then locates the latest blogs it identifies as belonging to any of us and returns the search criteria.
But it gets better, you see Google also provide an RSS feed for that search phrase. All I needed to do then was to copy the feed details, I chose an Atom Feed, and paste this into my WordPress Theme’s RSS reader, replacing Dave Dunn’s Google Pipe.
Voila, a dynamic student blogroll in which every student making posts is rewarded for their effort by being mentioned on all my pages
But what of all those students who were on my static blogroll, what will happen to them. Fear not kittens you will be rewarded ~ more soon!

Alex Jeffreys: The Guru’s Dream Bonus Review
Have you read ‘The Guru’s Dream’? It’s an incredible Free 84 page PDF e-Book by Alex Jeffreys in which he reveals some facts about Internet marketing that ‘the gurus’ don’t want you to know.
Alex is a fan of Tim Ferris, author of ‘The Four Hour Work Week’. He has good reason to admire Tim’s approach, because at one time Alex was working sixteen hour days just trying to keep up with all the advice and systems being sold, or given away on the Internet. B.T.W. I still think Alex works pretty hard, despite reading Tim Ferris’ book
The eye-opener in ‘The Four Hour Work Week’, for Alex though, was the revelation that he was living a better life than many of his millionaire friends even though he was, at the time, earning a fraction of their earnings.
The fact is that if you get the priorities in your life wrong you’ll end up with ulcers, your bowels will be removed a centimetre at a time by surgeons, or your spouse will leave you for hir personal trainer. I wrote about this a day, or so ago in this blog. It’s your life man ~ get it right! Whoops, back to the review . . . . Alex explains that he sets his business and entrepreneurial goals around his personal goals. In other words Alex imagines his desired lifestyle first, and then sets out to create business systems that will support it.
This approach differs from that of most people, who simply grab fragments of Internet marketing systems and attempt to put them together simply to make money. This is a huge mistake! Be More Than A Carbon Copy Marketer Alex writes: “Remember this is business and if you play outside the court you’ll get left behind. . . . if you keep playing in the guru’s court they’ll only let you score a few points. ”
So you have to make your own game on your own court. And the potential for newcomers to the Internet has never been greater!” To paraphrase Alex, the reason you’re unlikely to make money on-line is because the gurus are lying to you. They peddle the idea that their product is a business in a box.
All you need do to make loads of instant cash is to plug their program into your computer and the computer will do all the work. It’s a lie, but it works for the gurus because for some their system will work, and because it’s a lie that you want to hear. So why do some of these systems work for some, and not for others?
Quite simply because the people who make the guru’s systems work already know how to make money on line. They’ve built their businesses, they are already outsourcing routine maintenance tasks on their business, and the latest plug-in already integrates with what they’re doing. Alex shares Zig Ziglar’s belief:
“You can have everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want in life.” If you want to join the 1% of people, like Alex, who are making money on-line you need to read ‘The Guru’s Dream’. Then you should re-read it, and then read it again, especially if you’re a guru. Because you see we’re in a new era on the Internet. We’re networked.
In the past hyped headlines may have proven to make more sales but that’s about to change. If you’re a guru and you’re hyping a product that performs poorly you can now easily be exposed. People have less disposable income than in the past, and they’re more wary of the red headlines full of bold claims.
Today people are beginning to do their research by reading blogs such as this one. By exchanging information on Facebook and MySpace, by reading the open communications between people on Twitter, as well as participating in forums such as The Internet Marketing Warriors. If you think that this post is going to give you the whole content of ‘The Guru’s Dream’, syllable-by-syllable, then I’m going to disappoint you right now.

Alex Jeffreys’ Coaching and The Incredible Book That Can Bring You All You Want Out Of Life
I’m supposed to be blogging about traffic but it’s still the Christmas holiday and it’s far easier for me to write about getting what you really, really, want than traffic; because for over thirty years I’ve been helping people to sort out their thoughts and feelings.

Not that I have no hang-ups, far from it!
For example when I started following Alex Jeffreys’ Coaching Program naturally I wondered if I had wasted my money? I mean could Alex really help me to build a list, let alone an effective Internet business?
As a result of these questions I engaged in the Course in a half-hearted way for the first couple of modules. But then I woke up. You see Alex is ‘the real deal.’ The man does summersaults attempting to get all his students into the game. His coaching webinars last for around six hours and most weeks there are two of them
Suddenly I released my mental brakes and plunged headlong into following Alex Jeffreys. I lost countless hours of sleep tuning into Alex by night, because the webinars are timed for those in the USA. I started to prioritise my time and monitor where and when I was wasting it. I was a convert.
Then little by little a tiny voice started to question me. The question it asked was: "Are you Alex Jeffreys?"
When I look at all Alex has achieved I am filled with admiration. I just love the way he gets behind his students and gently moves them on. In another life Alex could be a sports coach, a motivational psychologist, a general, or perhaps even a politician?
The one thing he can’t be though is you, or me!
I’ve noticed that Alex has some aspects to his lifestyle that would kill me if I attempted to emulate them at my age. I think all that ‘Red Bull’ would plunge me into a diabetic coma, for example. I would freeze on Andrew Fox’s yacht, and as for mixing my drinks ~ that’s a complete no-no.
It is for this reason that I keep urging those students who are lagging behind in the program to put Alex’s personality to one side and instead grab the ‘gold’ that he is offering us. You don’t have to be Alex Jeffreys or follow his lifestyle in order to benefit from his teachings. But you do have to follow his prescriptions for building your Internet business.
If you’re lagging behind on this program I suggest that you take a look at your aspirations using the tools in the mini e-course that I’ve mentioned in my two previous posts. I am not going to plug this e-course again on this blog, quite frankly I don’t care if you buy the e-book or not. All I’m suggesting is that you try the e-course, if your stuck, so that you can join in fully with this incredible opportunity that Alex Jeffreys is offering us.
I started reworking my values today and came up with a couple of surprises. For example, although I ask the question at the head of this page: "Can Alex Jeffreys help Stephen earn a million dollars?", in fact I wouldn’t know how to handle 1,000,000 bucks responsibly. I’m actually aiming for around £60,000 income from my Internet business in 2007. I think that’s achievable and that I could grow it from there without damaging my lifestyle.
You see, I decided that this income shouldn’t come at the expense of my health, or family and friends. This actually means working really tightly, using bite sized portions of time, and outsourcing routine tasks.

Alex Jeffreys’ Coaching: How I Came To Live Rent Free On A Mediterranean Beach
When I sent Jobey out amongst all the blogs being created by Alex Jeffreys’ students he came back bemused. Some of them like that of Gary Simpson are packed with information and resources that have been given open-heartedly to help others.
Moreover, Gary has his own style, Jobey refers to blogs like this as ‘Originals’.
Then there are those blogs that scrupulously follow Alex Jeffreys’ style. Jobey put Dean Holland’s blog in that category. It shares much in common with Alex Jeffreys’ own blog in terms of its simplicity of design and style of blog posts. Creating a blog like this is the ’safest’ option for Alex’s students because the student is following a proven system.
Finally there are blogs that are all over the place. Some are hosted in the wrong way. They’ve been created in Blogger, or some other free media so the owner can find his blog taken down at anytime the blog doesn’t suit the media provider. Others contain virtually no content, except for lengthy blogrolls cloned from Garry Parkes website.
How is it then that some have managed to take Alex’s material and run with it fast and far whilst others are still struggling to get to first base?
I suspect that the Christmas holiday and the demands of friends and family have played some part, but there must be more to it than that?
As a psychotherapist I know that by far the greatest inhibitor of success is the limitation of the mind. The fact is that many of us aren’t ready to succeed and that means that we find ways to ’self-sabotage’ thus maintaining a ‘failure script’, because for us failure is ‘normal’ and normal is safe.
Your brain is composed of four components:
- Your right brain handles patterns such as arrangement, rhythm, and harmony
- Your left brain comments on your perceptions using syntax, words and logic
- Your midbrain is emotional, reacting to stimuli it perceives as joyous or dangerous
- Your brainstem is a stimulus-response system that may be easily conditioned
Unless you can persuade all four parts of your brain to work together to achieve your desires it’s practically impossible for you to achieve it. Moreover, even if you do achieve your target in all possibility something in your life will overturn your achievement, because you omitted it from your plan.
This will in turn return you to your previous lifestyle, and most likely you’ll then consider it your fate.
Yesterday I wrote at length about how I came to live on rent-free on a Mediterranean beach after adjusting my ‘mental template.’ I used a process that is defined as:
"Putting yourself consciously in charge by creating effective communication between your conscious and unconscious minds, by consciously transposing success from any part of your life into others where you consciously want to produce success, resolving self-defeating unconscious habit patterns into ones that support you and by creating effective conscious communication with the part of you that knows what’s right for you."
I figure that if you’re one of the students who is lagging behind in Alex Jeffreys’ Coaching Program then it’s not your fault, however you need to take some steps to focus-up and defeat whatever forces are impeding your progress before the pace changes gear next year. Alex Jeffreys’ Traffic Generation Methods
According to Alex Jeffreys first step to obtaining Internet traffic is to decide that you want Internet traffic and then make a plan of how to get it.
However, before I start into a, pretty boring and over simple, overview of acquiring Internet traffic I just want to thank Allison Reynolds for taking the trouble to let me know that my ‘About Stephen’ page was showing up as a wall of code, rather than the elegant prose that it’s supposed to be. Internet traffic may be acquired from three sources:
1. Word of mouth/recommendations; sometimes referred to as ‘viral marketing.’
2. Organic traffic, which is traffic obtained as a result of fulfilling people’s requirements when searching for information via search engines, such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo.
3. Purchased traffic, which involves a range of methods such as pay per click, (paying search engine companies to display your data at the top or side of their search results); Adwords and banners, (paying companies to syndicate your adverts onto other people’s websites in exchange for a fee; private link farms and other ‘black-hat’ schemes that get your website noticed.
I have always steered well clear of purchasing traffic no matter from whom, or the methods used. This is the policy that intend to also follow when thinking about traffic acquisition during the next two weeks, when Alex Jeffreys has asked us to blog about traffic tactics.
Later this weekend I will reveal my overall traffic generation plan for the next two weeks.

Alex Jeffreys On The Edge Of Depression!
Alex Jeffreys‘ latest coaching module is about acquiring customers for your business. These customers start as visitors to your website and continue to visit if you provide them with valuable information, or entertainment. Website visitors are known as ‘traffic’.
Some of Alex Jeffreys information was new, some old but injected with Alex’s own unique ‘vibe’.
What is significant about this module is that it builds upon the very first module of Alex’s Program, rather than the previous one which was about preparing sales systems on your website.
In order to obtain traffic it’s necessary to make a plan and then to take action according to the plan in a systematic way. Only after all the parts are in place may the results of different components be evaluated. The if something is working you should do more of it, and if it’s not working you may choose to discard it.
You should never discard an idea part way through its implementation because you think it isn’t working. Marketing in general is about building long term relationships, and according to Alex, Rich Schefren says ‘Effective Marketing Makes Selling Unnecessary’.
Alex spoke at some length about his early attempts at Internet Marketing, including one example that netted him over $20,000 in the week it was launched and then failed to earn a cent ever again.
Alex Jeffreys On The Edge Of Depression!
This was an important lesson for me since Alex’s disappointment back then drove him to the brink of a depression, however Alex was a determined ’streetfighter’ in the world of Internet marketing. Spreadsheets are his weapons with planning and determination as his allies. Although initially he saw the brevity of his selling success as a weakness, he came to analyse it and modify his goals and methods. All true businesspersons do this.
Within six months Alex Jeffreys was back on top. This time he had new traffic generation methods based upon building true relationships with people and helping them. These methods bring him traffic and customers on autopilot.
Alex Jeffreys methods are simple, timeless and practical - but they involve some ‘grunt’ work. If you lack energy, or the ability to think and plan systematically, then forget about achieving success in Internet marketing.
During the weekend I will formulate my traffic pulling plan and publish an overview here. Then in the days ahead I will reveal details of the methods I am applying to obtain traffic, as well as the results being achieved.
In this way I hope that you too may benefit from my time and experiences.
